Allowable Ampacity for 2/0-2/0-2/0-2/0-1 ALUMINUM SER CABLE at 75°C: 135 Amps
Allowable Ampacity for 2/0-2/0-2/0-2/0-1 ALUMINUM SER CABLE at 90°C: 150 Amps
Applications:
2/0-2/0-2/0-1 Aluminum SER cable is used as a service entrance cable in residential and light commercial applications. It supplies power from the meter base to the main panel and is also used for subpanel feeders, branch circuits, and high-load electrical connections. The cable is rated for 600V and can be installed in dry and wet locations with a maximum operating temperature of 90°C.
This cable size is commonly used for:
- 150A main service panel feeds in single-family homes, per NEC 310.15(B)(7).
- Subpanel feeds in large residential properties, such as multi-unit dwellings and apartments.
- Power distribution from meter bases to 150A panelboards in light commercial buildings.
- Supplying power to high-load appliances, such as HVAC systems, electric furnaces, and water heaters.
- Backup generator connections where a 150A-rated feeder is required.
Also Known As:

Standards:
-
Ampacities based on National Electric Code, 2005 edition, section 310-15
-
60°C when terminated to equipment for circuits rated 100 Amps or less or marked for 14 gauge through 1 gauge conductors
-
70°C when terminated to equipment for circuits rated over 100 Amps or marked for conductors larger than 1 gauge
-
90°C wet or dry locations
-
For dwelling units, conductors shall be permitted at listed ampacities to be utilized as 120/240 volt, 3-wire, single phase service conductors that supply the total load

Construction
Conductors:
The 2/0-2/0-2/0-1 designation means this SER cable contains:
- Two 2/0 AWG aluminum phase conductors (hot wires)
- One 2/0 AWG neutral conductor
- One 1 AWG bare aluminum ground conductor
The conductors are made of compact stranded soft-drawn 8000 series aluminum, cabled together with a reinforced binder tape for structural integrity.
Insulation:
Type XHHW-2 cross-linked polyethylene (XLPE) insulation for heat, moisture, and chemical resistance.
Jacket:
The cable jacket used in its design is Polyvinyl Chloride (PVC). The jacket protects the inner components of the cable from potentially damaging external forces. PVC is robust and resistant to oil, sunlight, water, flames, acids, chemicals, radiation, impact, abrasion, and weather changes. Sequential footage markings that help the user identify the appropriate length during installation are noted on the cable jacket.
