Thermocouple wires are used in the construction of the thermocouple probes to create and extend them. The goal of the thermocouple probe is to measure the temperature with the help of the point of cold junction compensation.

Please note that while regular copper wires can be used in the manufacturing of the thermocouple, they are never used to extend the thermocouple; this is the sole purpose of a thermocouple wire. Thermocouple wires are never used for goals other than thermocouple probes.

There are different types of thermocouple cables based on the mixture of metals that constitute their conductors.
