2-2 Everett Duplex Aluminum Conductor Underground Direct Burial 600V URD
Allowable Ampacity for 2-2 Everett Duplex Aluminum Conductor 600V URD direct burial: 187 Amps
Allowable Ampacity for 2-2 Everett Duplex Aluminum Conductor 600V URD in duct: 100 Amps
Applications:
The 2-2 Everett Duplex Aluminum URD Cable is designed for single-phase secondary power distribution in underground electrical systems. It is 600V-rated and suitable for direct burial or installation in ducts. With two aluminum conductors and XLPE insulation, this cable is moisture-resistant, heat-resistant, and durable for outdoor use.
With a maximum operating temperature of 90°C, it performs reliably in both wet and dry environments. The duplex configuration, consisting of one phase conductor and one neutral, makes it ideal for single-phase service drops from transformers to buildings.
Specific Use Cases of 2-2 URD
- Delivers single-phase power to service meters in residential and rural areas.
- Supplies underground power to small commercial buildings and farms.
- Provides electricity to single-family homes, mobile home parks, and outbuildings.
- Used in street lighting circuits and outdoor power applications.
- Supports temporary power setups for construction and emergency sites.

Construction
Conductors:
Aluminum conductors used for this cable are designed in either concentric strand or in compressed series. The advantage with a compressed conductor is the reduced bulkiness. Compressed conductors are also stronger and tougher; the stranded conductors are highly flexible and tend to have lower electrical resistance. Stranded conductors therefore reduce power loss and are also easier to use in applications where flexibility is vital.
Aluminum 600 V URD cable has its two conductors coupled together and surface printing helps in identification of the conductors. The color for the neutral conductor is always yellow stripped.
Insulation:
Versatile insulation system made of cross linked black polyethylene material helps to secure the cable conductors. This insulation is water tight, repulsive to corrosive substances, resistant to oil, heat and flame. Cross linking a polyethylene helps to achieve an excellent strength that makes the material suitable for covering this cable used in harsh conditions like direct burial installation.
