The remote cabinet shelf (RCS) is a 12- or 24-fiber patch panel designed for cabinets with limited space. In the stubbed configuration, it is ideal for installation in remote electronics cabinets. The unit’s compact height allows it to mount in a single, standard EIA 19-in or 23-in rack. The unit is available for use with field-installable connectors or with preconnectorized cable. RCS-012 occupies one rack space (1.75 in) and accommodates up to two connector panels and/or modules. RCS-024 occupies two rack spaces (3.5 in) and accommodates up to four connector panels and/or modules. Connector panels and modules are purchased separately. The stubbed RCS contains connector panels with a specific length of preconnectorized cable installed and strain-relieved in the unit. The cable is then routed to a splice housing for termination.
