Specification

Industrial Single Pair Type EX Overall Shielded Thermocouple Extension Cable

Applications:

Type EX Overall Shielded Thermocouple Extension Cable is used when protection from electrostatic interference is required. The electrical wire can be installed indoors or outdoors, aerially, in conduits, ducts, and cable trays.

Also Known As:

Type EX PVC Thermocouple Extension Cable, Type EX Extension Grade Thermocouple Wire, EX Thermocouple Extension Wire, Type EX, Type EX Extension Grade Wire

Standards:

  • • IEEE 383 (70,000 BTU/hr) Flame Test
  • • IEEE 1202 (70,000 BTU/hr)
  • • UL Standard 13 (70,000 BTU/hr) Flame Test
  • • CSA FT4 Flame Test
  • • ANSI-MC96.1
  • • ICEA S-66-524

Construction:

Conductor:

The conductor is made of annealed, solid thermocouple extension grade alloy. The cable is individually shielded with aluminum-polymer tape providing 100% coverage with a flexible 7-strand tinned copper drain wire. The cable is also equipped with a bare copper orange PVC-insulated communication wire.

Insulation:

The insulation is available in flame-retardant ethylene-propylene rubber (FR-EP) and flame-retardant cross-linked polyethylene.

Jacket:

Sunlight-resistant chlorinated polyethylene (CPE) with a ripcord is applied longitudinally under the jacket to facilitate stripping.

Industrial Single Pair Type EX Overall Shield

High temperature conditions calls for Type EX Thermocouple Cable, which is designed with an operational temperature at 105 degrees Celsius and a cold bend of -350C. The cable is insulated with a flame retardant EPR and double shielded with an aluminum tape. It is jacketed with a color coded Chlorinated Polyethylene for maximum performance.

• Conductor

It measures 16 AWG with a conductor thickness of approximately 0.150 inches. Copper is a good electrical conductor and will ensure you a superb electrical transmission in your wiring system. Annealing improves the flexibility of the copper conductors making them soft.

• Compliance

i. ANSI-MC96.1
ii. ICEA S-66-524
iii. IEEE 383 flame test
iv. CSA FT4

• Insulation

Ethylene Propylene Rubber protects the user from electric shocks because it is non-conducting. This layer is thermoplastic and do not succumb to deformations easily. It also creates a permanent barrier between the neutral path and the live conductors, improving its electrical conductivity.

• Jacketing and Shielding

Type EX Thermocouple Wire is shielded with aluminum foil to eliminate conductors from overlapping. Shielding also maintains the circular phase identification of the cable. CPE jacketing offers both chemical and mechanical protection.

Applications

Thermocouple EX Cable is installed through conduit systems, cable trays, overhead transmission and ducts. It is used in high heat facilities like geothermal, motor engines and heating machines.
