Manhattan™ Coaxial Cable

Coaxial and Twinax Cable:

For a complete range of 50, 75, 93, and 100 ohm coaxial and twinaxial, we offer a wide range of insulations and jackets meeting the requirements of military specifications and regulatory agencies such as UL and CSA. For broadcast-quality video transmission, our precision video cables use FEP dielectrics to achieve low capacitance, high velocities of propagation, and tight tolerances for maximum signal integrity.

Alpha Wire RG 316/U 50 Impedance Braid Shield FEP Insulation Coaxial Cable

ALPHA WIRE RG 316/U 50 cable is a type of Coaxial Cable characterized by two cylindrical conductors of different diameter separated by insulators.

Conductor

ALPHA WIRE RG 316/U 50 cables are made of a copper conductor with a mesh made from copper which acts as a shield from the signal leakage. They have two conductors; the inner conductor and the outer shield. The inner conductor is majorly used for transferring signals while the outer shield is used to earth the system and to prevent Radio Frequency Interference (RFI).

Copper is preferably used as the conductor because of its excellent characteristics in electrical transmission. It is also good in thermal conductivity thus useful in dissipating excess heat that would interfere with the system.

Insulation

It is important to cover the conductors with a material which does not conduct electricity a process known as insulation. Insulation minimizes electrocution when handling and unwanted accidents like fire breakout. ALPHA WIRE RG 316/U 50 cable is insulated with Fluorinated Ethylene Propylene (FEP). FEP is an organic compound that exhibit dielectric properties. During curing of the composite electrical parts FEP protects mold. It is also very flexible and resistance to chemical attack.

Shielding

To counter the problem of electromagnetic interference during high electrical transmission, shielding is done by earthing excess currents. For this type of cable braid shielding method is used. This is done by tightly meshing copper wire around the conductor to provide a direct path to the ground

Applications

These coaxial cables are designed for transmission of signals and data of high frequencies. Some these applications include;

• Video broadcasting transmission
• Telecommunication
• Wireless communication
• Lower level RF signals
