Specification

Manhattan™ Coaxial Cable

Coaxial and Twinax Cable:

For a complete range of 50, 75, 93, and 100 ohm coaxial and twinaxial, we offer a wide range of insulations and jackets meeting the requirements of military specifications and regulatory agencies such as UL and CSA. For broadcast-quality video transmission, our precision video cables use FEP dielectrics to achieve low capacitance, high velocities of propagation, and tight tolerances for maximum signal integrity.

Alpha Wire RG 187A/U 75 Impedance Braid Shield PTFE Insulation Coaxial Cable

Coaxial cables are characterized by a central solid copper conductor surrounded by a cylindrical cable of a wider diameter and are separated by a layer of insulators. ALPHA WIRE RG 187A/U 75 has a 75 Ohm resistance.

Conductor

ALPHA WIRE RG 187A/U 75 cables have a bare solid copper conductor. Copper is preferred for it high electrical conductivity, it is the metal with good electrical conductivity and little resistance to flow of current. Copper conductor has the ability to resist stretching, breaks, and nicks hence suffers fewer instances of power interruptions as compared to other conductors. It is also very ductile thus eases installation because it can be easily twisted and terminated.

This conductor draws a resistance of up to 75 Ohms due to the small diameter of the conductor. Resistance of a conductor increases with decrease in its thickness hence the slightly high resistance.

Insulation

Insulation involves forming a cover around a conductor with a material which does not conduct electricity to curb the effects of fire accidents that arise due to exposure of naked wires. ALPHA WIRE RG 187A/U 75 cable is insulated with Polytetrafluoroethylene (PTFE). PTFE is preferred for its strong carbon-fluorine bonds that are non-reactive and flexible. Another advantage is that it is highly hydrophobic and therefore does not react with water or any compound containing water.
PTFE insulated wires provide extremely efficient dielectric properties giving it a high performance index and resistance to temperature.

Shielding

Shielding is often done on circuits with high power transmissions to counter the effect of electromagnetic interference by providing a direct path to the ground. There are many type of shielding, for the coaxial cables, Braid shielding is preferred. Braid shielding involves weaving copper wire tightly around the cable. It ensures the wire remains flexible and steady.

Applications

ALPHA WIRE RG 187A/U 75 cable has a wide range of application like,

• Lower Level RF signal transmission
• Wireless communication
• Telecommunication
• Video transmissions
