Specification

Manhattan™ Coaxial Cable

Coaxial and Twinax Cable:

For a complete range of 50, 75, 93, and 100 ohm coaxial and twinaxial, we offer a wide range of insulations and jackets meeting the requirements of military specifications and regulatory agencies such as UL and CSA. For broadcast-quality video transmission, our precision video cables use FEP dielectrics to achieve low capacitance, high velocities of propagation, and tight tolerances for maximum signal integrity.

Alpha Wire RG 180B/U 95 Impedance Braid Shield FPE Insulation Coaxial Cable

Alpha Wire Impedance Coaxial cables are specially designed two-conductor cables with a common axis. The conductors are cylindrical and of different diameters, and are separated with insulators. This cable has a resistance of 95 Ohms.

Conductor

Alpha wire RG 180B/U 95 is made of a solid copper conductor. Copper is one of the best conductors and commonly used because it’s more readily available than other conductors. It also has high mechanical strength with excellent structural rigidity which minimizes loosening at connected joints. Its flexibility also eases installation without any special tools. Besides, copper has good thermal conductivity a property that enables it to dissipate excess heat in the system.

Insulation

Naked conductors which carry live current are dangerous since they can cause a fire accident or even cause electrocution. To prevent such risks, an insulator is applied to enhance maximum safety. The Alpha wire RG 180B/U 95 is insulated with Foam Polyethylene (FPE). FPE is structural made of many tiny bubbles which are sealed from one another. These tiny bubbles provide good resistance to water, good mechanical strength and rigidity. FPE is also resistant to petroleum products and non-polar solvents therefore preventing damages caused by such products.

Shield

In an electric circuit with high electric transmission, electromagnetic interference effects build up. This prevents effective emission of EMF by forming a layer around the electrical cable. In this Alpha wire RG 180B/U 95 cable, Braid shielding method is used. This involves tightly using copper wire to wrap the assembled cables to provide a resistance path to the earth. This type of shielding provides good versatility and strength, besides it is flexible to offer long flex life to increase durability.

Application

Alpha wire RG 180B/U 95 cable is made to transmit signals of high frequency and data. They are preferable for military specification as well as direct ground burial. Some of its most common applications are:

• Video transmission
• Audio connectivity
• Wireless communications
• Telecommunications
