8 AWG 4C Stranded Bare Copper Unshielded XLPE PVC 600V Substation Control Cable
Allowable Ampacity for 8 AWG 4C Stranded Bare Copper Unshielded XLPE PVC 600V Substation Control Cable: 100 Amps
About:
• The Stranded Bare Copper Unshielded XLPE PVC 600V Substation Control Cable is a versatile and robust cable designed for control and power distribution applications in substations and other industrial environments. This cable offers excellent electrical and mechanical properties, making it ideal for use in demanding conditions.
Also Known As:
• Substation Control Cable
• Bare Copper Control Cable
• XLPE PVC Control Cable
• High Voltage Control Cable
Application:
• These heavy duty cables are particularly suited for substation control functions, and can also be used for general purpose control circuits in industrial applications. They are semi-flexible, suitable for AC or DC use in dry or wet locations and can be used as aerial cables, installed in conduit or troughs or they can be directly buried. The cables are available at two rated voltages—600 volt for general control purposes and for protective devices, and 1,000 volt for use where high voltages are caused by breaking inductive circuits. The PE/PVC insulated conductors have excellent physical and electrical properties; the PVC jacket offers superior oil, chemical and moisture resistance
Standard:
• IEC 60502-1: Power cables with extruded insulation and their accessories for rated voltages from 1 kV (Um=1.2 kV) up to 30 kV (Um=36 kV)
• BS 6622: Specification for power cables with XLPE insulation and for rated voltages from 3.8/6.6 kV to 19/33 kV
• IEEE 383: Standard for type test of class 1E electric cables, field splices, and connections for nuclear power generating stations
• ASTM B8: Standard specification for concentric-lay-stranded copper conductors
Construction:
• Conductor: Stranded bare copper, ensuring excellent conductivity and flexibility
• Insulation: Cross-linked polyethylene (XLPE) for primary insulation, providing high dielectric strength and thermal stability
• Inner Sheath: Polyvinyl chloride (PVC), offering additional mechanical protection
• Overall Sheath: PVC, ensuring environmental protection and resistance to chemicals
Features:
• High Dielectric Strength: XLPE insulation provides superior electrical properties and high dielectric strength.
• Heat Resistance: Capable of withstanding higher temperatures, suitable for harsh environments.
• Mechanical Strength: Stranded bare copper conductor offers robustness and flexibility for easy installation.
• Chemical Resistance: PVC sheathing is resistant to chemicals, oils, and fuels, ensuring longevity in various environments.
• Durability: Suitable for both indoor and outdoor installations, withstanding various environmental conditions.
