35mm 1C Tinned Copper Unshielded Dual Layer LFH 440V Military Vessel Flexible Cable

Allowable Ampacity for 35mm 1C Tinned Copper Unshielded Dual Layer LFH 440V Military Vessel Flexible Cable: 100 Amps

About:

• The "Military Vessel Tinned Copper Unshielded Dual Layer LFH 440V Flexible Cable" is a specialized type of electrical cable used primarily in military ships and submarines. It is designed to handle high voltages (up to 440V) and is made with tinned copper, which makes it resistant to corrosion – a common issue in marine environments. This cable is unshielded, indicating it's not used in areas with high electromagnetic interference, and features a dual-layer insulation, likely including Low Fire Hazard (LFH) materials for enhanced safety. Its flexibility is key for installation in the confined and complex spaces typical of military vessels.

Also Known As:

• This cable might be known by various technical names depending on the manufacturer and specific use. It's often referred to based on its key characteristics, like "Tinned Copper Flexible Cable" or "LFH Military Cable."

Application:

Single core cables having flexible conductors for power, lighting, control, circuits in HM surface ships and vessels. Incorporates LFH (Limited Fire Hazard) insulation and sheath for reduced levels of smoke and toxic fumes in the event of a fire. For use in flexing or fixed applications and suitable for use where fuel, lubricating oils, hydraulic fluids and water are present.

Construction:

In accordance with DS 02-526.
Conductor: Flexible class 5 tinned copper conductors to BS EN 60228.
Insulation: Dual layer LFH insulation to DS 02-526.
• Outer Sheath: Black LFH outer sheath to DEF61-12 part 31. In addition, the outer sheath also displays the following characteristics:
Minimum oxygen index: 30%.
Maximum HCL emission @ 800ºC: 0.5%.
Flame retardant to BS EN 60332-1-2 for completed cables with individual conductor size less than 4mm2. BS EN 50266-2-3 NMV 3.5 (IEC60332-3-23 Category B) as a minimum, for completed cables with individual conductor sizes 4mm2 and greater.
Voltage Rating: 440V rms (between cores, or between cores and ships structure, or between cores and cable screen).
Temperature Rating: 85ºC maximum conductor operating temperature.
N.B. Cables also retain a degree of flexibility under weatherdeck conditions of -30ºC.

Standards:

This type of cable is likely to adhere to stringent military and international standards, ensuring:

Durability: Resistance to wear and tear in harsh maritime environments.
Safety: Compliance with fire retardant and low smoke standards, crucial for enclosed, high-risk environments like submarines or ships.
Performance: Meets electrical performance standards for high-voltage applications.

Features:

• High Voltage Capacity: Suitable for 440V applications, indicating its use in high-power systems.
• Corrosion Resistant:
Tinned copper resists corrosion, a common challenge in marine environments.
• Low Fire Hazard:
LFH materials enhance safety in critical applications.
Flexibility: Makes installation and routing in complex shipboard environments easier.

Specifications:

• Conductor Size: 35MM Squared
• Conductor Count: 1 Conductor
• Conductor Material: Bare Copper
• Conductor Stranding: Class 5
• Insulation Material: LFH-Limited Fire Hazard
• Jacket Material: LFH-Limited Fire Hazard
• Mil Spec: Naval Engineering Standard 526
• Voltage Range: 440V
