Applications:

The 2/0-2/0-1 Converse Triplex Aluminum URD Cable is designed for single-phase secondary power distribution in underground electrical systems. It is 600V-rated and suitable for direct burial or installation in ducts. With aluminum conductors and XLPE insulation, this cable is moisture-resistant, heat-resistant, and durable for outdoor use.

With a maximum operating temperature of 90°C, it performs reliably in both wet and dry environments. The triplex configuration, consisting of two 2/0 AWG phase conductors and a 1 AWG neutral, makes it ideal for single-phase service drops from transformers to buildings.

Construction

Conductors:

Aluminum conductors used for this cable are designed in either concentric strand or in compressed series. The advantage with a compressed conductor is the reduced bulkiness. Compressed conductors are also stronger and tougher; the stranded conductors are highly flexible and tend to have lower electrical resistance. Stranded conductors therefore reduce power loss and are also easier to use in applications where flexibility is vital. Aluminum 600 V URD cable has three aluminum conductors.

Insulation:

Versatile insulation system made of cross linked black polyethylene material helps to secure the cable conductors. This insulation is water tight, repulsive to corrosive substances, resistant to oil, heat and flame. Cross linking a polyethylene helps to achieve an excellent strength that makes the material suitable for covering this cable used in harsh conditions like direct burial installation.
