About:

Direct-operated pressure-regulating valves are used for pressure reduction in applications involving steam, air, and other gases. The balanced seat and disc design enables these valves to function efficiently even with low inlet pressures, down to 5 PSIG. Unlike pilot-operated valves, the 455 Series does not incorporate small pilot orifices, making it less prone to issues caused by dirt and pipe scale. The 455 Series is installed with an external sensing line connected several feet downstream of the valve. Positioning the sensing point beyond the valve discharge turbulence zone ensures more accurate downstream pressure control.
