They are made of malleable iron, which is known for its strength, durability, and ability to withstand high mechanical stress. Malleable iron is often used in applications where shock resistance is important.  As the name suggests, these elbows have a diameter of 1-1/2 inches, which refers to the nominal pipe size they are designed to fit. These fittings have a 90-degree bend, which is useful for changing the direction of conduit runs in an electrical wiring system.
