Does cable shape matter?
-
There is some discussion happening in my circle about whether or not UL 62 allows for cable to be oval shaped. The discussion came about due to receiving some 18/5 SEOW that is visibly oval vs. Circular. I'm interested in hearing from those that might have knowledge on this type of concern.

Hello Annie!
UL 62 doesn’t specifically require cables to be perfectly circular, so a slightly oval shape on an 18/5 SEOW cable should be fine as long as it meets all performance and safety standards, like insulation thickness and flexibility. If the shape is very flattened or seems unusual, it’s worth checking with the manufacturer to confirm it’s within spec and won’t impact performance.0 likes 0 likes
