TYPE E 10 AWG 37 STRANDS PTFE TEFLON CABLE
Type E cable family has a wide variety of cables and the 10 AWG special Teflon version. Cables are mainly categorized into sizes. The cable is categorized among the AWG sizes. A standard basically used in North America for naming wire gauges. This type E cable has a conductor size of 10 AWG with 37 strands but can go up to 18 AWG in size. It has a voltage rating of 600 volts hence it is typically meant for light to medium weight applications. The Teflon cable can operate in a wide range of temperatures of up to 2000C.
Construction
Type E 10 AWG cable has an essentially simple but tough design. It comprises of a conductor and an insulator.
Conductor
The conductor is made from silver plated copper but also available in nickel plated copper. Copper is mainly used as the conductor because of its amazing electrical properties. It can easily transmit electric current from on point to another due to its properly organized electrons.
Insulation
The insulator is a very vital part in any electrical wire or cable. It ensures safety among the cable operators since it does not conduct electricity. It also protects the conductor from damage. Insulations used for this cable is Extruded PTFE (PolyTetraFluoroEthylene). This material is robust and resistant to oils, acids, chemicals, radiation, impact, abrasion, high temperatures and flames. It is available in many colors including red, black, white, green, brown, orange, gray and other various colors for you to choose from. These colors may be striped or twisted.
Applications
It can be used in various industrial applications as long as it does not exceed 600 volts. Among its applications include military harnessing, for power supply and power control units in power plants among other applications where the wire could be exposed to oils, acids, moisture and high temperature. It can be used in applications of up to 2000C as specified by UL.
