Endura IP Video Management System SM5200-16P
Also Known As:
Endura System Manager, Video Management System, 16TB Endura System Manager
About:
The SM5200-16P is a network appliance designed as the system management component of Pelco’s Endura system. It manages the discovery and registration of all Endura components and cameras on the network. When registering Pelco cameras and encoders, it functions as a secure key server, enabling a public/private key exchange that allows Pelco video encoders and cameras to securely sign compressed video. This ensures video authenticity, which is critical for law enforcement or evidentiary requirements. The SM5200-16P continuously monitors the health and functionality of all network components. As a management server, it hosts user rights and permissions, authenticating credentials through its database before granting access to Endura clients. User configurations stored within the system determine the functionality and language preferences for each role and account, streamlining operations and reducing training requirements. It can also integrate with an LDAP server, such as Microsoft Active Directory, for user authentication. In addition, the SM5200-16P hosts the Endura Script Manager, which allows for scripted responses to alarm conditions, scheduled events, or manual initiations. The unit includes an NTP server that can act as a proxy between atomic or GPS-based NTP servers and Endura network components. If no external NTP server is available, it can serve as the time source for Endura cameras and servers, though time drift may occur over time due to its reliance on commercial off-the-shelf (COTS) servers. The appliance also acts as a DHCP server, managing and issuing DHCP addresses for all Endura components and cameras. Built for mission-critical surveillance systems, the SM5200-16P is equipped with two solid-state drives (SSD) in a RAID 1 configuration for the operating system, ensuring redundancy and continuous uptime. Redundant fans and optional RAID 5 storage for exported video content provide further protection against hardware failures. The system features dual Gigabit Ethernet ports: Network port 1 is dedicated to Endura network traffic, while Network port 2 supports IPv6 and is used for remote access, allowing administrators to manage network traffic and the impact of video surveillance on shared networks efficiently.
