The SM5200 is a network appliance that serves as the system management core of Pelco's Endura system. It handles the discovery and registration of all Endura components and cameras within the network. For Pelco cameras and encoders, the SM5200 functions as a secure key server, facilitating secure public/private key exchanges to authenticate and sign compressed video. This ensures video authenticity, particularly for law enforcement or evidentiary purposes. In addition to device registration, the SM5200 monitors the health and performance of all network components, logging diagnostics and user activities such as logins, alarm responses, and video exports in its database. As a management server, it controls user rights and permissions, authenticating credentials through its internal database before allowing access to Endura clients. User roles and preferences are stored and applied for each operator, enhancing efficiency and reducing training needs. The SM5200 also supports integration with LDAP servers, such as Microsoft Active Directory, for user authentication.
