About:
Direct-operated pressure-regulating valves are designed for pressure reduction applications on steam, air, and other gases. Their balanced seat and disc design allows for effective operation even with low inlet pressures, down to 5 PSIG. Unlike pilot-operated valves, the 455 Series does not use small pilot orifices, making it less prone to problems caused by dirt or pipe scale. These valves use an external sensing line, installed several feet downstream, to measure pressure. Positioning the sensing line away from valve discharge turbulence ensures more accurate downstream pressure control.
