SMPTE Camera Cable:

When uncompressed high-definition cameras arrived in the broadcast facility, it was soon realized that copper cables could not carry these HD signals as far as their triax and coax predecessors. Even the largest coax can only go 1,000 feet or so when carrying HD-SDI video and many sports venues and similar large facilities need longer distances. SMPTE 311M is the solution that filled that requirement. Designed for high-definition (HD) cameras, these composite cables can multiplex audio signals and video signals and deliver power.

SMPTE 311M Cable:

Belden SMPTE 311M cable assemblies feature machine-polished fiber contacts and soldered copper connections for superior performance. To ensure consistency and reliability in the most demanding applications, all copper connections are tested for continuity and all fiber contacts are optically tested and return losses verified. Belden SMPTE 311M assemblies are pre-terminated with SMPTE connectors from industry-leading manufacturers such as Amphenol, King’s and LEMO. All connectors are installed with full-length rubber strain relief which helps prevent damage during the rigors of Outside Broadcasting (OB). These processes and features enable the low attenuation and return loss required for high-speed uncompressed HD video transmission and ensure Belden SMPTE assemblies will consistently and reliably perform in the field.
