USB-C Cable Color Code

The diagram below represents the color code for the current generation of USB-C cables. It demonstrates both the external color schemes that the manufacturers are using for aesthetic and functional reasons, and internal color codes that manufacturers use to put these cables together.

In the USB Type-C cable, the USB Data+ (D+) and USB Data- (D-) lines are important for USB 2.0 communication. Here's the typical color coding:

  1. White or Black: Ground (GND) - Pins A1, A7, A12, B1, B7, B12
  2. Blue: SuperSpeed transmitter positive (SSTXp+) - Pins A2, B10
  3. Yellow: SuperSpeed transmitter negative (SSTXp-) - Pins A3, B11
  4. Red: Bus power (VBUS, +5V) - Pins A4, A9, B4, B9
  5. Black: Configuration channel (CC1, CC2) - Pins A5, B5
  6. Green: USB 2.0 Data+ (D+) - Pins A6, B6
  7. White: USB 2.0 Data- (D-) - Pins A7, B7
  8. Purple: SuperSpeed receiver positive (SSRXp+) - Pins A10, B2
  9. Orange: SuperSpeed receiver negative (SSRXp-) - Pins A11, B3
  10. No Color: Sideband use (SBU) - Pins A8, B8
