14 XHHW-2 Copper Building Wire
Description:
XHHW-2 copper conductors are primarily used in conduit, recognized raceways, and branch circuit wiring, as outlined in the National Electrical Code (NEC). These conductors are suitable for wet and dry locations, with a maximum operating temperature of 90°C. They have a voltage rating of 600 volts. Certain XHHW-2 conductors may be used in health care facilities under NEC Section 517.160 if they meet the dielectric constant requirement of less than 3.5.
Also Known As:
14 XHHW-2 Copper Building Wire, 14 XHHW Cable, 14 XHHW Service Wire, 14 XHHW Copper Wire, 14 CU Building Wire, 14 Black Stranded CU SIMpull XHHW-2 Wire, Southwire 11292071, Southwire Wire, 14 AWG XHHW Building Wire, 14 Gauge Stranded Copper XHHW-2 Wire.
Common Uses of 14 AWG Copper XHHW-2 Wire
- 15A branch circuits in residential and light commercial buildings
- 20A branch circuits in applications where the 90°C ampacity is permitted, such as derated conductors in a conduit with multiple wires
- Control circuits in industrial and commercial power distribution systems
- Feeder wiring for small loads, such as lighting and low-power appliances
- Wiring for HVAC equipment such as small air handlers or control systems
- Motor leads for fractional horsepower motors in wet and dry environments
- Power distribution in conduits and raceways where 600V-rated wire is required
