Specification

12 XHHW-2 Solid Copper Building Wire

Description:

XHHW-2 copper conductors are primarily used in conduit, recognized raceways, and branch circuit wiring, as outlined in the National Electrical Code (NEC). These conductors are suitable for wet and dry locations, with a maximum operating temperature of 90°C. They have a voltage rating of 600 volts. Certain XHHW-2 conductors may be used in health care facilities under NEC Section 517.160 if they meet the dielectric constant requirement of less than 3.5.

Also Known As:

12 XHHW-2 Copper Building Wire, 12 XHHW Cable, 12 XHHW Service Wire, 12 XHHW Copper Wire, 12 CU Building Wire, 12 Black Stranded CU SIMpull XHHW-2 Wire, Southwire 11293871, Southwire Wire, 12 AWG XHHW Building Wire, 12 Gauge Stranded Copper XHHW-2 Wire, 12 Stranded Copper XHHW-2 Wire.

Common Uses of 12 AWG Copper XHHW-2 Wire

  • 20A branch circuits in residential and commercial buildings
  • 25A branch circuits where the 90°C ampacity is permitted, such as derated conductors in conduit with multiple wires
  • Control wiring for industrial automation and power distribution
  • Feeder wiring for appliances, lighting, and small electrical loads
  • Wiring for HVAC units and refrigeration systems
  • Motor leads for fractional and small horsepower motors in wet or dry locations
  • Power distribution in conduit and raceways for 600V-rated applications
