Description
Combining photoelectric and heat detection technologies increases the effectiveness and adaptability of smoke detectors. Photoelectric sensors are particularly sensitive to slow, smoldering fires, while heat sensors detect rapid rises in temperature typically associated with fast-burning, flaming fires. The photoelectric component operates by using light to detect smoke particles. When smoke enters the sensing chamber, it scatters the light beam, triggering the alarm. Depending on its design and configuration, the detector can activate an alarm based on smoke detection, heat detection, or a combination of both. Photoelectric/heat detectors are ideal for environments where both smoldering and flaming fires pose potential risks, offering comprehensive fire detection coverage.
