Product Information
Specification
Automotive Wire GXL-UL
Applications:
Automotive wire is among the wide range of electrical cables used as power cables in the automotive industry, such as in vehicle engines. This GXL automotive wire is relatively robust and can withstand high heat and high impact environments. The operational temperature for this electrical cable is between -40°C and 125°C. It also has a high voltage rating of up to 25 VAC.
Also Known As:
Sae j1128 gxl, gxl wire, gxl cable, gxl automotive wire, automotive wire, automotive cable, primary cable, car wiring, auto wire, auto cable, automotive electrical wiring, car electrical wiring, vehicle wiring, auto electrical wire, automotive primary wire.
Standards:
The GXL automotive wire has the following certifications from international agencies:
- • SAE J1128
- • Ford (ESB-M1L85-A)
- • Chrysler (MS-8900)
Construction
Conductors:
The GXL wire has a bare copper wire conductor. Copper is the most common material used in electrical wires and cables, which is mostly because it has amazing electrical properties and is cheaper compared to other metals. The stranding enhances its flexibility and enables it to carry more current.
Insulation:
The GXL cable has XLP insulation, which is flexible but very tough, made of a complex chain of molecules forming a sturdy polymer. It can withstand a wide range of temperatures, is resistant to chemicals and UV light deformations, water-tight, and easy to cut.
Automotive Wire GXL-UL
The automotive GXL is an extensive stock of industrial cables specifically belonging to the automotive cables family. They are largely used by most car manufacturers worldwide. This is mainly because they are tough and can deliver the desired amount of current for many motors. It’s available in various sizes and can operate within a wide range of temperatures of between-400C and 1050C. The automotive wire GXL transmits current of up to 60 volts and an alternating current of 25 volts.
Conductor
The conductor is made ofcopper which is stranded in concentric rope lay. The cable is very flexible and can withstand any stress put to it without breaking. It also delivers the desired amount of current without overheating. The copper conductor is also affordable and you don’t require heavy pockets to get your hands on these cables.
Insulation
The insulation is made from color coded polyvinyl chloride (PVC) which is lead free. PVC is tough and can withstand heat, flames, radiation, oils, chemicals, corrosion, impact and abrasion. It is color coded to enable easy identification of the cable depending on the size. The insulation can be easily stripped to check the conductor.
Industrial ratings and approvals
This cable has undergone various tests which in turn prove that it has the stated attributes. The GXL-UL automotive cable has been approved by the following international standards organizations;
• • SAE GPT J-1128
• • Ford ESF-M1L-56A or Ford ESF-M1L-85A
• • Chrysler MS-3450
Applications
It can be used in various industrial applications as long as it does not surpass the voltage rating. However it is mainly designed for automobiles in engine compartments since it can resist heat.
