Product Information

Specification

6 AWG 3C CCA Armored MV 5kV 133% / 8kV 100% VFD Power Cable Yellow

Also Know As:

6 AWG Three Conductor CCA Armored Cable, 5kV 133% VFD Power Cable, 8kV 100% VFD Armored Cable, Yellow MV Power Cable, High Voltage VFD CCA Cable, Industrial VFD Power Cable, Yellow CCA VFD Cable, 133% Insulation Level VFD Cable, 100% Insulation Power Cable, 6 AWG Three Phase Armored VFD Cable, Copper Clad Aluminum MV Cable, Heavy Duty VFD Power Cable.

Application:

CCA armored Medium-Voltage power cables are an economical, rugged, and reliable alternative to cable in conduit wiring methods. It is recognized for use on fixed or floating offshore petroleum facilities as recommended by the American Petroleum Institute. CCA cables are for use on feeders and branch circuits in industrial power distribution systems per NEC Articles 328 and 330, as well as for use in Class I, II, and III, Divisions 1 and 2; and Class I, Zones 1 and 2 hazardous locations per NEC Articles 501,502, 503, and 505. They can be installed in both exposed and concealed work, wet or dry locations, directly buried or embedded in concrete, on metal racks, troughs, in raceways, in cable trays or secured to supports spaced not more than six feet apart. 3 conductor CCA armored cables with three (3) symmetrical grounding wires are the preferred wiring method for use with AC motors controlled by pulse-width modulated inverters in VFD applications

Conductors:

• Bare, annealed copper Class B compact stranded, in accordance with ASTM B3, B496
• Extruded strand shield of thermoset semi-conductor stress control layer over the conductor per ICEA S-93-639 and UL 1072

Insulation:

• 115 mils EPR insulation per ICEA S-93-639 and UL 1072 which has outstanding corona resistance and high dielectric strength, and provides electrical stability under stress
• Extruded insulation shield of thermoset, semi-conducting polymeric layer, free stripping from insulation per ICEA S-93- 639 and UL 1072

Ground:

• Three (3) split bare, annealed copper Class B stranded, sized in accordance with UL 1072 and NEC Article 250

Shield:

• 5 mil annealed bare copper tape with 25% overlap

Assembly:

• Insulated and grounding conductors are cabled together with non-hygroscopic fillers when required. Binder tape is applied over the cabled core

Armor:

• Continuous corrugated and welded, impervious aluminum alloy sheath providing complete protection against moisture, liquid, and gas per UL 1072 and UL 1569. Conductivity meets the grounding requirements of the NEC and UL 1072

Jacket:

• Yellow flame-retardant, moisture and sunlight-resistant polyvinyl chloride (PVC). Low temperature performance meets ASTM D746

Phase Id:

• Color-coded polymeric identification tape laid under the shield black, red, blue

Standards:

• Meets UL 1072 for Medium Voltage Power Cables
• Meets UL 1569 requirements for Type MC, Metal Clad Cables
• Meets UL 2225 for Hazardous Locations (MC-HL)
• Meets UL 1309 requirements for Marine Shipboard Cable
• ICEA S-93-639/WC-74, 5-46 kV Shielded Power Cable
• CSA C68.3
• AEIC CS8 Specification for Shielded Power Cable, 5-46 kV
• UL Type MV-105
• UL Type MC-HL, SUN RES, CT USE, DIR BUR, -40°C, FT4
• Flame Tests: ICEA T-29-520 (210,000 BTU/hr), IEEE 383 and IEEE 1202 (70,000 BTU/hr), IEC 60332-3 category A, UL 1072 and CSA FT4
• UL Listed Marine Shipbaord and American Bureau of Shipping (ABS) listed for CWCMC
• 105°C continuous operating temperature, wet or dry. 140°C emergency rating. 250°C short circuit rating.
