Product Information

Specification

1 AWG 3C With 3/6 Ground Shielded XLP Insulation 600/1KV VFD Cable

Applications:

The metal clad cable is an electrical wire that is often used in severe and hazardous environments where the maximum conductor and electrostatic interference protection are needed. It can continuously operate in temperatures of up to 90°C in both wet and dry conditions. However, in case of emergency overload or short circuits, this mc wire can operate in temperatures up to 130°C and 250°C respectively. This electrical wire has a voltage rating of 1,000V, which makes it suitable for lightweight power applications.

Standards:

  • UL 1685
  • ICEA T-29-520 (210,000 BTU/hr) Flame Test
  • IEEE 383 (70,000 BTU/hr) Flame Test
  • IEEE 1202 Flame Test
  • ICEA T-29-520 (210,000 BTU/hr) Flame Test
  • IEC 332-3 Category A fire test
  • CSA FT4
  • UL listed Type CWCMC to IEEE 45/IEEE 1580 (46 CFR Part 111.60-23) Marine Shipboard Cable
  • Meets requirements of CSA-C22.2 No. 0.3, -40°C cold impact test

Construction

Conductors:

VFD cable conductors are made from soft bare annealed copper in accordance with ASTM B-3, compact Class B stranding per ASTM B-8, with a semi-conducting conductor shield. Copper is used for this application because of its amazing electrical properties and flexibility.

Shield:

The shield prevents electromagnetic interference from affecting the cable; it also protects the cable from other external mechanical damages. The shield of this metal clad cable is made of uncoated copper tape.

Insulation:

Insulation is very important in any electrical cable since it prevents the electrocution of cable handlers. This metal cable insulation is XLPE insulation, type XHHW-2 per UL 44, which is flexible but very tough, made of a complex chain of molecules forming a sturdy polymer. It can withstand a wide range of temperatures, is resistant to chemicals and UV light deformations, water-tight, and easy to cut.

Armor:

The armor protects the cable from external damages in addition to the shield and is made using impervious continuously welded and corrugated aluminum.

Jacket:

This metal clad cable jacket is made of PVC. This material is resistant to flames, sunlight, chemicals, abrasion, corrosion, moisture, industrial solvents, oils, acids, alkalis, and radiation.
