How do you use side post terminals The first step is to strip your battery cable to the correct length. After that, slide the side post terminal over the exposed portion of the cable. A deep chamber chamfered entry allows for easy cable installation. To properly secure the side post terminal while making a solid connection, you need to crimp it with the correct tool. If you need a little extra protection, add a piece of epoxy-lined heat shrink. Make sure to cover the area where the base of the terminal meets the cable insulation. Selecting the correct battery post isn't always an easy task.
