Applications:
The mv105 copper cable is an electrical wire used for power circuits up to 15,000 Volts when fixed in open air, conduit, or duct; in applications such as chemical plants, refineries, steel mills, industrial plants, commercial buildings, utility substations, and generating stations. The National Electric Code accepts this electrical cable for uses within 105°C for continuous operation, 140°C for emergency overload conditions, and 250°C for short circuit conditions.
Also Known As:
250 mcm medium voltage power cables, 250 mv power cable, 250 mv105 cable, 250 mv105, 250 erp power cable, 250 mcm mv power cable, 250 mcm mv105 cable, 250 mcm mv105, 250 mcm erp power cable.
Standards:
- Industry: National Electrical Code (NEC). UL 1072. ICEA S-93-639/NEMA WC74. ICEA S-97-682. AEIC CS8. UL listed as type MV-105 for use in accordance with the NEC. Sizes 1/0 AWG and larger are listed and marked "Sunlight-Resistant FOR CT USE" in accordance with NEC.
- Flame Test: UL 1685 (70,000 BTU/hr)
- Optional Flame Test: IEEE 1202 (70,000 BTU/hr)/CSA FT4. ICEA T-29-520 (210,000 BTU/hr.)
- Other: EPA 40 CFR, Part 261, for leachable lead content per TCLP. OSHA acceptable.
Construction
Conductors:
The MV power cable conductor is made of copper and has a conductor shield with soft bare annealed copper per ASTM B-3, Class B stranding per ASTM B-8 (compressed), or ASTM B-496 (compact).
Insulation:
A strong and enduring ethylene-propylene rubber (EPR) is used as the insulation system. The good thing about this insulation is how friendly it is to human hands since it is a rubber, a material that tends to be soft but guarantees profound and reliable safety wires. This insulation is also environmentally friendly, it doesn’t contain any toxins which can cause harm to human, animals, and plants health.
Insulation Shield:
Thermoset semi-conducting polymeric layer free stripping from insulation.
Metallic Shield:
5 mil annealed copper tape with an overlap of 25%.
Jacket:
Reinforced insulation is provided by a PVC jacket, which is sunlight-resistant, per ICEA S-97-682 and UL Standard 1072.
