About:

The IB Series inverted bucket steam traps are primarily used in drip applications to effectively remove condensate from steam mains and supply lines. Their design features a discharge orifice mounted at the top of the trap body, which helps reduce the risk of failure due to dirt and debris—an advantage over many other trap types. However, inverted bucket traps have poor air-handling capabilities, making them less suitable for applications where rapid air removal is essential. As a result, they are best suited for process applications like unit heaters and laundry equipment, where discharging air during system start-up is not critical. For systems that require quick and efficient air removal, Float and Thermostatic (F&T) traps are the preferred option.
