About:
• Transitioning from a 1/2" EMT push installation to using an EMT to box pull elbow involves connecting the EMT conduit to an electrical junction box using a pull elbow. Here's how you can do it:
• Prepare the EMT and Junction Box:
• Cut the end of the 1/2" EMT conduit cleanly using a conduit cutter, removing any burrs or sharp edges.
• Ensure that the electrical junction box is properly installed and securely mounted in the desired location.
Select the EMT to Box Pull Elbow:
C• hoose an appropriate EMT to box pull elbow designed for 1/2" EMT conduit and compatible with the type of junction box you are using (e.g., metal or plastic).
Verify that the pull elbow has the necessary angle (e.g., 90 degrees) to make the connection.
Install the Pull Elbow:
• Insert one end of the 1/2" EMT conduit into the opening on the pull elbow until it reaches the stop inside.
• Ensure that the conduit is fully seated and that there is no gap between the conduit and the pull elbow.
• Secure the Conduit:
• If the pull elbow has set screws or clamps, use them to secure the 1/2" EMT conduit in place.
Tighten the screws or clamps to ensure a secure connection.
Connect to the Junction Box:
• Position the pull elbow so that the other end aligns with the knockout opening on the electrical junction box.
• Insert the threaded end of the pull elbow through the knockout opening in the junction box.
• Secure the Pull Elbow to the Junction Box:
• If the pull elbow has locknuts, tighten them onto the threaded end inside the junction box to secure the pull elbow in place.
• Ensure that the pull elbow is securely fastened to the junction box.
Complete Installation:
• Verify that the connection between the 1/2" EMT conduit and the junction box is secure and properly aligned.
Continue with the installation process, such as pulling wires through the conduit or making additional connections within the junction box.
• By following these steps, you can effectively transition from a 1/2" EMT push installation to using an EMT to box pull elbow to connect the EMT conduit to an electrical junction box.
