Specification
Solid Bare Copper Conductor Soft Drawn Wire
Other Names For solid bare copper conductor:
solid bare round copper wire, bare round copper wire, bare electrical wire, bare copper ground wire, raw copper wire, bare earth wire
Applications:
Solid round bare copper wire (class AA) is an electrical wire suitable for overhead transmission and distribution applications. The wire is uncoated and unalloyed, which lets the customers enjoy the pure benefits of a copper conductor. Bare conductors exhibit superior conductivity compared to insulated versions.
The wire has a unique, tough, and simple design. It is durable and is resistant to corrosion, abrasion, wire breakage, mechanical impact, and weather. It is often used in jumpers and ground for electric construction. Solid round bare copper wire is used in other cables, including telecommunication cables, building wire, and grounded wires. If needed, they can later be stranded or placed in a metallic coat. Copper conductors can be recycled and used as a component of a different cable after the initial use.
Compared to a stranded version, a solid round bare copper conductor is tougher and more durable, though less flexible. The electrical wire cannot be used in harsh conditions or underground because it is not protected by insulation. Nassau National Cable sells solid round bare copper wire sized between 2 AWG and 24 AWG.
Construction:
Conductors:
Copper conductors have the best electrical and thermal conductivity on the market. Some of the advantages of copper in cables include conductivity, tensile strength, and the properties of the tensile expansion. Conductors made from this material are usually smaller, which makes it easier to transport them. High tensile strength means that they do not wear easily, even when put under a lot of stress. Copper is easy to bend and maneuver in areas of the building that seem challenging for wire installment.
Insulation:
Uninsulated
Jacket:
Unjacketed
Standards:
- ASTM B-3 and B-8
- National Electric Code (NEC)
